Blog Hiatus - Death in the Family

I won't be updating too much in the next few days. The Hub's grandpa, who practically rasied him, passed away yesterday afternoon. He was 95, and had been in ill health for about a year, maybe a little longer. His wife, The Hub's grandma, died in 2002, just a few months before we met.

I didn't know Grandpa S. well; I probably met him ten times in the entire time The Hub and I have been married. So I don't feel any personal grief. But The Hub is understandably shaken and upset. We'll need to go up north to Petoskey for the visitation and funeral, and the WiFi up there isn't great, so I doubt I'll be updating too much.

I'm thinking EJ and Four will stay down state with my mom so they don't have to miss school. Four only has 12 days left, and I don't want her to miss any. EJ wouldn't suffer much if she misses a day or two, but Four would be terribly lonely staying at my mom's without EJ. We'll be taking the babies up with us.

I have to say though. I am secretly excited to be going up north, because I think the morels might be out, and I can't think of a better afternoon than one spent in the woods of northern Michigan, picking mushrooms and listening to the birds.
