Spring has sprung!

Crocus coming up (at least, I think it's a crocus...)

Right after I took this picture, Beastie came up and stomped this poor little flower to smithereens.

Okay this one I'm sure of - leaf buds on the lilac bush! How exciting! I can never remember when this is supposed to bloom, and it always takes me surprise.


I have been hearing red winged blackbirds for about a week now, and yesterday the sandhill cranes were in our back pond, making the worst noise you've ever heard. I've also been hearing and seeing robins and starlings... most people hate starlings, but I think they're awesome.

I am so glad spring is here... now I just have to wait till the end of May so I can plant some vegetables (and then wait till June before I kill them.)
