So today I went to Great Clips and had the lady hack off all my hair. Eleven inches of it is bound into a pony tail and on its way to Locks of Love, where it will join several other ponytails in a fantastic journey to wigdom. First it gets washed and sorted, to make sure it's all the same length, and then they send it through the Amazing Wigomalator, where it will be magically turned into a hair piece for a child suffering from alopecia. Some of the kids who get wigs from Locks of Love have genetic causes of hair loss, while other have lost it due to chemotherapy. I read on their website that it costs like 5K to make wig. That's crazy. Maybe they need to just use traditional wig making equipment, and retire the Amazing Wigomalator. It just doesn't seem like it's all that cost effective anymore. Probably because it runs on pure Saudi oil, and we all know how that goes.
Anyway, here are the pictures.

You look great with your new do! (I'm sure ya looked great before, but I can only see the back of your head lol) Right on mama :)
Oh, the new haircut is FANTASTIC! By the way, one of the blogs I follow is a mama whose kido had cancer...twice: http://uuminister.blogspot.com/. I've learned a lot about supporting friends whose children are ill by reading her blog. You're right about locks of love being a great source of wigs for kids with a variety of conditions, including genetic ones. The blogger who I referenced above had a good post on Locks of Love that clarifies what they do: http://uuminister.blogspot.com/2008/06/why-i-dont-support-locks-of-love.html.
